We’re currently in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. It’s really cool. On Sunday we woke up at 5 A.M. and went to watch the Dawn Patrol, where the balloons take of just as the sun rises over the mountains. Trouble was, there were clouds, and the wind was blowing the wrong way. The balloonists had to wait for another hour before they could take off. It was really cool to watch them all blow up all around you. There were about 600+ balloons in the sky that morning.
All of the balloons in the picture below are inspired by/copied from balloons we saw.
Hey everyone!! Thank you so much for buying our book! Shelldon got it for free (it’s one of the purks of being the TurtleTells Turtle). Here he is, thinking about his favorite part.
“We made friends with them [RV Retirees], and it was really fun to do our homework up there and pretty much spend the whole time talking and not getting anything done. One lady grew up with Jimmy Buffet! We got to be the moderators for the many debates over whether Kentucky is a southern state of not.” (By the way, it isn’t.)
(Buy the book above.)
I don’t know if you still read the blog, Mr. S., but if you do I want you to know that we have many fond memories of you. Thanks for being great!
I have been using Craftsy to learn awesome new sewing techniques. I love it, and Shelldon got interested. He’s too small to work a sewing machine, and turtles don’t have the right kind of hands to work with that stuff, but he likes learning all the same.
While we’re here at Grammy and Grandpa’s house, I have my own room! It’s nice to have some more space to myself, and Shelldon likes it, too. Here he is hanging out with his friends. Left to right are: Brown Bear (my Mom’s bear from when she was a kid). Pinkie (the baby doll I’ve had since I was one). Shelldon (your favorite turtle). And Rosie (my adorable manatee, or “Potato Bear” as my little cousin calls it).
We are on Lake Powell this very moment! We went with our Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. Shelldon has been loving it (he’s never been before), and he even learned to water ski. What other turtle do you know that knows how to ski? He’s pretty good. Gordon and I are really enjoying it, too. We’re so glad we already learned to ski in Indiana! So here’s your weekly dose of your favorite turtle:
I’ve been kind of obsessed with Harry Potter lately, thanks to my friend Cali. Since I happen to have all the books laying around here, Shelldon picked up the first one he saw and started reading. Unfortunately, that was the seventh and last book in the series. So much for not spoiling it all. Oh well, he’s liking this one a lot and plans to go back and read them all from The Sorcerer’s Stone.
This Tuesday, Shelldon and Stanley are enjoying a weird sport that Gordon and I love. Slack Lining! You set up a special line between two trees and try to walk across it without falling off. These two are really good!!
